Sziámi
From Unearthing The Music
Sziámi (Siamese) is a Hungarian alternative band, founded in 1984 by two former members of the Kontroll Csoport, Ágnes Bárdos Deák, and Péter Müller. The ensemble played music in the same style as Kontroll Csoport. The band changed its name many times (Sziámi Sziámi - Siamese Siamese, Sziámi Zenei Társulat- Siamese Music Troupe, After the War, Mad Max, etc). Sziámi had at least three different periods in ten years, with singer-songwriter Péter Müller always at the helm. The first period was defined by his relationship with Ágnes Bárdos Deák Bárdos, the second by the music of guitarist János Gárdos, and the third by Müller's work with musicians whom he met after moving to Nemesrádó in Zal County. Before the regime change, only pirate editions would include Sziámi music (for example Anti Star – 1985, Demo Törökbálint – 1986, Marathon – 1986), because their alternative and "depressive" music and lyrics weren't looked upon fondly by any record labels at the time. After the fall of socialism, they released several records (such as Ha - If – 1989, Testből Testbe - From Body to Body – 1992, I Belépek Egy Helyre - Step Into A Place – 1993, Sürgős Reinkarnáció - Urgent Reincarnation – 1996, etc.). In 1997, the band broke up for a while, but at the end of 1999, they reunited with János Gasner. In March 2009, the guitarist János Gasner (who was also Müller's co-songwriter) died. As a result, Müller declared the end of the Sziámi band. Since then, Müller began performing under his own name or as ’Péter Müller Sziámi And Friends.’
