Leon Miodrag Lazarov Pashu, also known as Miodrag Lazarov Pashu or simply Pashu, was born in Skoplje, [[:Category:North Macedonia|North Macedonia]], which was then part of [[:Category: Yugoslavia|Yugoslavia]] in 1949. In 1991 he emigrated to Canada with his family where he obtained Canadian citizenship in 1995.

Lazarov Pashu holds a B.A. in Music with a major in Composition, attained after studying with Prof. Vasilije Mokranjac, and M.A. in Aesthetics, taught by Dr Milan Damnjanovic, from the Faculty of Music at the Belgrade University of Arts. He also completed a course in electronic music at the [[Electronic Studio of Radio Belgrade]], working with Paul Pignon and [[Vladan Radovanović|Vladan Radovanovic]], and privately studied conducting at the Belgrade Opera with maestro Borislav Pascan. He also studied towards a D.Mus at the Faculty of Music of the University of Montreal, his doctoral thesis being supervised by Marcelle Deschênes and Jean Décarie.

His works have been performed in Canada, the United States, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Holland, Hungary, Sweden, Cuba as well as throughout the former Yugoslavia. His works were also presented by Radio Canada, Radio Netherlands and Radio France as well as by all major radio and television stations in the former Yugoslavia. Two records have been recorded in Yugoslavia featuring his works.

As a conductor, Lazarov Pashu frequently recorded for Radio Belgrade and performed throughout the former Yugoslavia, mostly presenting his own music, compositions of his Belgrade colleagues as well as some works by Russian and American composers. One of his recordings features Pashu as conductor with the Ensemble for Another New Music from Belgrade.

Pashu was a member of one of the leading avant-garde Yugoslav music groups, [[Opus 4]]. With the group, as well as on his own, he acted as a performer in concerts and happenings or as a mediator in presentation of his sound environment works, videos, theoretical objects, tapes, semiosonics and metamusics. He describes this kind of artistic activity as Phenomenalism. During the eighties and nineties, he enlarged his activities in visual arts producing works with neon. Pashu has also been engaged as a lecturer, presenting his own ideas of aesthetics of contemporary music. His essays, studies and reviews have been published in many periodicals in the former Yugoslavia and have been presented by all major Yugoslav radio stations.

In 1996 Pashu has established his own enterprise, PashuArt, with the purpose of promoting and producing his own creative work expressed either through music, visual arts, multimedia and phenomenalism, or through aesthetics and theory of art. Pashu is a member of the Canadian Music Centre as well as of Composers’ Association of Serbia and Aesthetic Society of Serbia. He is a founding member of the Musical Alliance in Montreal, an organization for promoting contemporary music.

His work, alongside with the work of other members of the Opus 4 group, has been a subject of two books: a M.A. thesis by Ms. Marija Masnikosa, ''Muzicki minimalizam'' - Musical Minimalism (published as a book by Clio, Belgrade, in 1998); and ''OPUS 4, Dokumenti'' - OPUS 4, Douments by Vladimir Tosic (published by SKC, Belgrade, in 2001).
