== History ==
Fornit was founded in 1978 in Warsaw by sixteen-year-old Paweł "Kelner" Rozwadowski. The band soon included drummer Dariusz "Misiek" Gierszewski (who played drums for the first time during the band's rehearsal) and guitarist Wojtek "Jasiu" Pietrasik (who had very little experience with playing the guitar) [1]. Their first concert took place in a high school in Wilanów. At this debut concert, "Misiek" was replaced by another drummer [1]</sup .

In 1980, the ensemble took part in the "1st National New Wave Festival", which took place in Kołobrzeg. Drummer Dariusz Gierszewski (later of [[Kult]] and [[Daab]]) also began his musical career in Fornit. He became famous with the song "Lepsza syphilis od IŁ-a", which is a commentary on Soviet-made planes (the song was inspired by the plane crash at Okęcie of the IL-62 plane in 1980, in which Anna Jantar was killed, among others ). The song "Better syphilis from IŁ-a" was joined with Anna Jantar's hit "Nothing can last forever" [2]. As a result of singing this song, Fornit was banned from performing all over Poland and shortly afterwards ended its activity [2]. Soon after, the [[Deuter]] band was formed [4]. Fornit was one of the first Polish music bands to be banned from working in the country [3].

While the band did not leave any official recordings, Fornit's song "You are yourself", was available on cassette tapes containing recordings from the festival in Kołobrzeg, along with music by [[Kryzys]], [[KSU]], [[Nocne Szczury]], [[Tilt]] and [[Kanał]] [1].
