It is known as one of the first &quot;hippie&quot; bands in Poland, but it should rather be appreciated for the role it played on the Polish art scene during the 70s.<br /> <br /> Founded ca. 1970/71 in Warsaw, the group was associated with conceptual art and the neo avant-garde; they were residents at several important and independent art galleries: Sigma, Repassage, Galeria El (El Gallery). Grupa w Składzie also participated in other artists’ activities, they cooperated with KwieKulik duo, Paweł Freisler, Krzysztof Zarębski, Jan Wojciechowski and Jerzy Kalina amongst others.<br /> <br /> They functioned in circulations of musicians who were searching a new artistic language, and who also took part in lots of artistic events like Helmut Nadolski, Andrzej Bieżan, Władysław Jagiełło, Andrzej Przybielski etc. The strength of this music was and still is its lack of boundaries, its creative eclecticism and the openness to artistic exchange and collaborations.<br /> <br /> They were the precursors of intuitive, experimental music created from the position of non-academics, at the same time reacting vividly to the trends in contemporary music of that time. Just the same name [“Composition of the group”] which was used by them to define their music brings into mind the theory of Karlheinz Stockhausen and his manifesto from 1971.<br /> <br /> Grupa w Skladzie reformed in 2008, and in 2013 an archive recording saw the light of day.
