He also studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music as well as at the Prague Academy of Music (AMU).&lt;sup&gt;[1]&lt;/sup&gt;<br /> <br /> He began his music career as part of rock band [[Sputnici]], before devoting himself to jazz and founding [[Jazz Q]] in the 1960s. Later he would study in London, at the Royal Academy of Music, for a year, and upon returning to [[:Category: Czechoslovakia|Czechoslovakia]] he formed [[Jiří Stivín &amp; Co]].<br /> <br /> Between 1967 and 1969 he was a member of the ensemble of the Jára Cimrman Theater. From 1970 to 1973 he performed as a member, soloist and finally as the conductor of the drama orchestra of the National Theater in Prague.<br /> <br /> Stivín performs music from the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the Baroque periods. As a soloist, he performed with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, with the Slovak Chamber Orchestra, with the Suk Chamber Orchestra, Barocco sempre giovane, as well as with several other ensembles.
