== Biography ==
He studied privately with Ján Zimmer and continued his studies with Alexandra Moyzes at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts with Jaroslav Řídke and Vladimír Sommer . In addition to his compositional activities, he worked in the Slovak Radio as an editor, dramaturge and director of the Experimental Studio of the Czechoslovak Radio in Bratislava.

== Works ==
He is the author of the first autonomous electro-acoustic composition in Slovakia - Orthogenesis (1966 - 1968), which in 1969 won 3rd place in the finals of the world competition in Darmouth College Hanover (New Hampshire, USA). The work of Jozef Malovec is characterized by the use of the principle of collage, the complementarity of means of expression, such as spontaneity, rationality, quotation, seriousness, irony, joke. In his musical work, the combination of dodecaphony and tonality can be seen .

He also composed poetry music on the poems of his wife, Helena Malovcová ( Music for Bass and Chamber Orchestra , 1977). In addition to experimental music, he created music for many documentary and feature films such as Old World Paintings (directed by Dušan Hanák ), animated films by Viktor Kubal , Ballad in Wood (directed by Martin Slivka ).
