Boriss Avramecs is a Latvian violinist, music historian, ethnomusicologist and music critic.
He is active in the fields of ancient music (11th-18th century European music), Asian and African traditional music, 20th century radical innovations in music, music and new technologies, and jazz and popular music history.
He created and led the Riga Ancient Music Center for 12 years, was the artistic director of the first seven International Ancient Music Festivals (1993-1999) and lectured at universities in Great Britain, Germany, Italy, USA, Russia, Estonia and Lithuania.
