António de Oliveira e Silva (born in Salreu, 1933-2005) was a Portuguese writer, musician, composer and teacher.

Biography

António de Oliveira e Silva studied composition, clarinet, violin and viola at the Conservatory in Porto. He was particularly interested in ancient and baroque music, studying under Marie Leonhardt and Jordi Savall.

He was a part of several Portuguese orchestras and chamber music groups, including the Lisbon Contemporary Music Group, of which he was a founding member.

He was a violin, viola and chamber music professor at the Castelo Branco Conservatory, the National Conservatory, and the Professional Arts school in Covilhã.
