Nicolae Brânduş

Nicolae Brânduş is a Romanian pianist and composer, born on April 16th 1935 in Bucharest.
Biography
Brânduş studied piano (1952-1957) and composition (1960-1964) at the National University of Music in Bucharest. Between l960-1969 he was the Solo Pianist for the Philharmonic Orchestra in Ploieşti. He attended the Summer Courses of New Music, Darmstadt (1969, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1978, 1980) and Aix-en-Provence (1979). He became a doctor in Musicology (1981) at the Academy of Music in Cluj-Napoca with the dissertation "Bases of a formalized analysis of the musical language". He worked with the Group of Musical Research at IRCAM-Paris (1985). He wrote studies and essays on music published in various cultural newspapers and magazines; he also held "visiting composer" lectures on new music in USA, Germany, Israel, Greece, Hong-Kong, Taiwan etc.

- The "George Enescu" Prize awarded by the Romanian Academy: 1977.
- The Diploma for the theatre show "Bizarmonia", awarded by the Theatre National Festival: 1999, Bucharest.
- "Cultural Merit" in the rank of officer: 2004, Bucharest.
