Novi Cvetya (“New Flowers”)

New Flowers (НОВИ ЦВЕТЯ/ Novi Tsvetia) is considered to be the very first Bulgarian punk band. The band was made by a group of youngsters from Kyustendil, Bulgaria, who had heard punk music on the Yugoslavian radio and decided to give it a try in 1978. They made their own instruments and recorded demos in their kitchen, using a simple reel to reel recorder. They became better known with their song "Perestroyka", performed their first official gigs and even got an alarm clock as a prize for their music during the late 80s. The early 90s brought more fans and more concerts but eventually the band disbanded in order to focus on their jobs and families.

"Radiation 1978 - 1995" was released in 2004, a collection of tracks that made it to vinyl or cd. In February 2007 they released the new album "Zemen Rai" (Earth's Heaven) also including some of their old songs taken from their old spool records.
