Standa Filip. Still from an interview available at Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/29250072)

Standa Filip is a Czech musician born in 1957 in Most. He studied physics in Brno, and was a teacher at the Faculty of Technology of the same city from 1987 onwards. In 1996 he moved to the Academy of Arts, where he taught until 2011. He spent his youth in Košice, where he began making electronic sound generators. He began building his first modular sound generator system in 1972, and in 1976 he created his first keyboards. In 1981, he founded the underground band Ještě jsme se nedohodli, which still performs today. A year later he created his first fretless electric guitar which he named Prkno, which he still plays and achieved notoriety thanks to its use in his band. He has since constructed several DIY guitars. In 1986, he presented his ironic composition "Symphony E flat major", in which his DIY electronic drums and a huge constructed electronic instrument with several pick-ups also appear. In 1987 he composed three compositions for the album Bittová & Fajt, which became one of the most famous alternative music albums. In the mid-1990s, he participated in hi-tech art exhibitions at the Art House in Brno. He was a member of the bands Pomalý posun, Pomalé prostředky (a multimedia project from 2003) and others. He is now a member of the band Klikva Klikva, which has been active since 2007. He also performed with the project FILIP_RICHTR_PELOUŠEK at the 2011 Multiplace Festival, where he also gave several lectures on his DIY approaches. He collaborates with Ondřej Mert and Václav Peloušek on the honorary project Standuino.
