The band was formed by singer and and multi-instrumentalist [[Inguna Černova]], who had previously worked with [[NSRD]], along with keyboardist and singer [[Viesturs Slava]] and drummer [[Ilgvars Rišķis]] (both from [[Dzeltenie Pastnieki]]), as well as [[Daiga Mazvērsīte]] (keyboards), [[Uldis Vanags]] (trumpet) and [[Uģis Šēriņš]] (saxophone).<br />

19 Gadi Pirms Sākuma made their debut in the beginning of 1988, during the exhibition "A Mole in a Hole" promoted by [[Hardijs Lediņš]] and his associates at the Museum of Foreign Art. Art curators from West Berlin, who heard this performance, invited them to the avant-garde music festival Transmission, where they played with the Latvian and Estonian guitarist [[Kalle Laar]].<br />

The band's music was very mutable in both form and content, based upon a mutual development of the musical theme and improvisation. In several recordings and concerts at the Tempodrom in West Berlin, Latvian DJ [[Roberts Gobziņš]], alias Eastbam, participated in the band's concerts using tape recorders. <br />

The group performed in concerts at the Anglican Church in Riga, at the Ogre Musical Meeting "Randiņš", at "Rock for Independence" festival in 1989 and 1990. Their last performance took place in the spring of 1991 at the Environmental Club in Arkadia Park in Riga.<br />
<br />
The band's only album was only officially released in 2005 by [[Ingus Baušķenieka]]'s record label and included 15 compositions. In 2017, it was included in the radio show cycle "Lightning on the Bottom" by Uldis Rudak, a music journalist, dedicated to 100 of the best Latvian popular music albums ever.<br />
