Agustí Fernández (born in Palma de Mallorca, 1954), is a [[:Category: Spain|Spanish]] pianist and composer mainly active in jazz music, but who has also composed for dance, theater, cinema, television and fashion shows. He teaches improvisation at the Escuela Superior de Música de Cataluña (ESMUC) since 2001.&lt;br /&gt;

A professional musician since he was thirteen, he first studied the piano in his hometown, then moving on to Barcelona, to France and then Germany. Among his most important musical influences are Cecil Taylor and Iannis Xenakis, with whom he studied in 1978.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In 1985 he published his first album, &amp;quot;Ardent&amp;quot; for the solo piano, which marked his career as a free improviser. In 1998 he joined Andrés Corchero in an artistic partnership which resulted in several dance shows.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
He has been a part of several jazz groups, including the Mandorla duo with flautist Jane Rigler (2001), the Ensemble Impromptu with Pep Llopis (2002), the Agustí Fernández Quartet (2003), a collaboration with flamenco singer Miguel Poveda (2004-2005, for the album &amp;quot;Desglaç&amp;quot;), the Fernández/Guy/López trio (2005), and the Slow band with David Mengual, David Xirgu and Dani Domínguez (2005).&lt;br /&gt;
