The ’Autoconcert’ was a concert series with three performances, which was organized to present pieces by four young Hungarian composers ([[Zoltán Jeney]], [[András Krizbai]], [[László Sári]], and [[László Vidovszky]]) in the Universal Stage of the Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences. The performances were on the 9th and 30th of April and on the 14th of May in 1973. The four composers were members of the contemporary music group ’[[New Musical Studio]].’ The eponym of the concerts was the ’Autoconcert’, a composition by László Vidovszky (1972), which became a famous performance: in an empty stage, invisible performers used hanged musical instruments (an organ by bamboo, an accordion, two cymbals and drumsticks, and a music box), and a metal hardware. The performers detached the objects at specific intervals, which made different sounds at first, then they were falling off. The happening was a metaphor of the decay of art, and also a demonstration of how gravity works in music.
