Corneliu Dan Georgescu (born January 1, 1938, Craiova, Dolj County&amp;lt;sup&amp;gt;[1]&amp;lt;/sup&amp;gt;) is a [[Category:Romania|Romanian]] composer and ethnomusicologist.&lt;br /&gt;

== Biography == &lt;br /&gt;
Corneliu Dan Georgescu began his musical studies at the Popular Art School in Craiova (1952 - 1956), with Mihail Bîrcă (theory-solfeggio), Constantin Baciu (harmony), before moving on to the Bucharest Conservatory ( 1956 - 1961 ) with Victor Iusceanu (solfeggio theory), Ion Dumitrescu (harmony), Nicolae Buicliu (counterpoint), Tudor Ciortea (musical forms), Mihail Andricu, Alfred Mendelsohn and Tiberiu Olah (composition), Tiberiu Alexandru (folklore) and George Breazul (history of music).[1]&lt;br /&gt;

He attended the Darmstadt courses in 1970 and 1974, where he studied with Mauricio Kagel, [[György Ligeti]], Karlheinz Stockhausen, Christian Wolff, and [[Iannis Xenakis]]. [4]&lt;br /&gt;

He has worked as a scientific researcher (1967 - 1974), principal investigator (1974 - 1983), and section head (1976 - 1980) at the Institute of Ethnological and Dialectological Research in Bucharest.&lt;br /&gt;

Between 1983 and 1984 he became an editor at the magazine &amp;quot;Music&amp;quot; in Bucharest, and between 1984 and 1987 he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Art History of the Romanian Academy in Bucharest.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
He has lived in Berlin, Germany, since 1987, and has been a German citizen since 1996. Here he received several scholarships, and collaborated at the Freie Universität in Berlin (1991 - 1994). Since 1997 he has been part of the specialized council in charge of all the articles about Romania of the MGG Encyclopedia, Personenteil.&lt;br /&gt;

In 1999, together with conductor and organist Peter Schwarz, he founded the Docor music publishing house. In many of his over 80 compositions, he uses his experience to investigate folk archetypes and search for primitive, elementary structures.&lt;br /&gt;
