Vladimir Yulievich Ratskevich (born May 30, 1950, Moscow, USSR ) is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and director, founder and leader of several projects [1][2].

Biography
Vladimir Ratskevich was born on May 30, 1950 in Moscow. In 1971 he graduated from MISS [3].

In 1967, on Petrovsko-Razumovskaya Street in Moscow, Vladimir Yulievich Ratskevich formed his first band, "The Saints", with Evgeny Avilov (bass), Alexander Menshagin (drums), Yuri Vodopyanov (vocals) and Alexei Tecinov (guitar), which performed works from the repertoire of "The Shadows", "The Ventures", "The Beatles", "The Monkees" and other groups [4].

In 1968, with Alexei Tecin, he started a new band called Rubies, which also included Sergei "Baski" Leshenko (bass, vocals) and Alexander Samoilov (drums) [4]. The group's first concert took place in the winter of 1968 at a rehearsal space in the assembly hall of the Institute of Physics of the Earth. After the performance, the head of the hall commented: “This jazz does not suit us. We need a real dance orchestra” and the group had to find a new base of operations [1][4].

In 1969, after Tegin left the group, Ratskevich renamed "Rubies" to "Ruby Attack" [4].

In the summer of 1972, Vladimir Ratskevich started a new group called "Leap Summer". The first performance of "Leap Summer" took place in the legendary Moscow cafe "Blue Bird", with the band's line-up being: Vladimir Ratskevich, Alexander Zaitsev on bass and Sergei Shevelev drums.

In the fall of 1972, Ruby Attack resumed its activity, but Ratskevich decided to keep producing "Leap Summer", which later turned into "Autograph".

In 1976, Ilya Dubrovsky (vocals, bass) and Boris Pankratov (drums) began to work with Ratskevich in the Ruby Attack group [4]. Due to constant harassment by the authorities, the group was forced to change its name to "Citadel" [1][4]. In 1980, it became known as "Tennis" [1][4]. In 1982, the band returned to its previous name, "Rubies".

In 1984, together with keyboardist Nikolai Shiryaev, he started a new project, "Vector" - the first computer music studio in Russia [2].

In 1988, he created an independent label, "Lava", with Vasily Shumov, [1][4]. In 1989, the new label released four albums of experimental music: Notchnoi Prospekt, Union of Composers, one by Vasily Shumov and another Ratskevich himself [4].

Since the late 1980s, mainly in collaboration with Oleg Litvishko, he has been writing music for various TV programs, films and commercials.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, he organized the ZoomRa project (ZoomRa - Fractal Compilation Fest (FCF) Sound ART + Multimedia) to “search for new audio-visual palettes for the innovative electronic scene and create a range of basic creative technologies” [1].
