From Unearthing The Music

Review (Bulgarian: Ревю) is a Bulgarian post-punk and new wave band that started in the late 1980s and has been one of the most influential acts in the history of Bulgarian rock music. The band has its origins in the band "Kale", founded in 1985 by Vasil Giurov, Dimitar Voev and Kiril Manchev, which later split in 1988 into the groups Review (Vasil Giurov, Kiril Manchev, Boicho Karaboichev and Milena Slavova) and New Generation.

In 1989 the band recorded an album containing pieces that are emblematic for their time, including "Ala Bala", "Waterfall Director", "Uncle" and others, as well as pieces recorded at rehearsals such as "Flowers of the late 80s" and "No address". Until 1990, "Review" performed a number of concerts both in Bulgaria and abroad, mainly in countries of the former Eastern Bloc. The band won the sympathy of the audience and the music specialists, expressed in awards from elite Bulgarian competitions for original music. Director Ivan Kovachev created a film about the group called "Waterfall Director (Direktor na vodopad)", telling their story and showing excerpts from their live performances. At the end of the year, after a music festival in Korea, the musicians ceased their performances and decided to seek a career abroad. Kiril Manchev went to Canada, Boycho Karabaychev to Great Britain, Vasil Gurov to Germany, while Milena remained in Bulgaria and continued her performances as a solo artist.

Gyurov returned to Bulgaria in 1992 and made several concerts with New Generation. After the death of Dimitar Voev, he and Ivan Latinoff made "Africa".

In 1996 Boyko Karabaychev returned and started recording a new album with Vassil Gyurov, which remains unfinished. In 1998, Gyurov created the song "Truck" with Nooky (Panikan Whyasker) and Dhikata (Panikan Whyasker), with whom he won the 1999 Song of the Year award in the Passport competition.

"Revue" returned in 2001 when Milena and Vassil Gurov reunited and together with Mikhail Peshev (New Generation) they released the album "10 ". The pilot song "Breakfast" became a song of the Year of the 2002 TV MM Awards. In 2003, "1968" was nominated for "Best Song" in the nominations of MM 's Annual Music Awards .

At the end of the same year, Milena left the band and went to England. For a short while the vocalist of the band became Andronia Popova - Ronnie of Nesecomix. After casting, Christina Serafimova was chosen as the vocalist.

Currently, the musicians plan to make a new album and are often present in the programs of the music clubs in Sofia.
