Jorge Lima Barreto

Fernando Jorge da Ponte de Lima Barreto, better known as Jorge Lima Barreto (Vinhais, December 26th 1949 - Lisbon, July 9th 2011) was a Portuguese musician, writer, musicologist and teacher.
He held a degree in Art History (1973) and then a doctorate (1993) by the New University in Lisbon, with a thesis entitled "Music and Mass Media". Earlier he had been an assistant professor at the Faculty of Letters of the Porto University and the Escola Superior de Belas Artes in Porto (1974 - 1978).
He was a founder of the Anar Band (1969), with Rui Reininho, of the "Associação de Música Conceptual" (Conceptual Music Association) with Carlos Zíngaro (1973); of Telectu (1981) with Vitor Rua, and the duo Zul zelub, with Jonas Runa (2007). He also collaborated with artists such as Elliot Sharp, Chris Cutler, Sunny Murray, Jac Berrocal, Louis Sclavis, Daniel Kientzy, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Evan Parker, Gerry Hemingway, Paul Lytton and Eddie Prévost.
