Ejecutivos Agresivos
From Unearthing The Music
Ejecutivos Agresivos (Aggressive Executives) was a Spanish pop musical group, one of the most emblematic of what became known as the Movida Madrileña.
Biography
Ejecutivos Agresivos was founded in the late 1970, when Carlos Entrena and Poch decided to leave the Paraíso group and made contact with other young people, thus creating the new band.
After playing in various Madrid stages and acting as the opening act for the Paul Collins Beat band, the Hispavox record company took notice of them and gave them the chance to enter a recording studio. From those sessions the single "Mari Pili" would emerge, with the song "Stereo" on side B.
The refreshing and fun lyrics of "Mari Pili" made it not only the song of the summer of 1980 but also one of the most memorable hymns of the Madrid scene.
Given the overwhelming success of the single, the band decided to record a second single with the songs «Hay pelea» and «Te espío» However, during the months of its recording and release the band was met with criticism and accusations of being "commercial", a label which strongly annoyed the band's members.
Relations with the record company deteriorated and their new album did not see the light of day. In February 1981, Ejecutivos Agresivos ceased to exist.
Its members then started other projects, joining some of the mythical bands of the time: Jaime Urrutia founded Gabinete Caligari, Poch founded Derribos Arias, Carlos Entrena founded Décima Víctima and Paco Trinidad began his time as a record producer with Esclarecidos and the Grabaciones Accidentales label.
In 1986 Hispavox released a mini album with eight songs including the 1980 singles "Mari Pili", "Stereo" and re-recordings of "There is a fight" and "I spy on you". In addition, four more songs from old demos were re-recorded.
